ORGANICA is an investigation into creating a deeper connection between wearer and garment. Timna suggests a new system, where wearer, garment and designer form a symbiosis, enabling continuous transformations. In hope of creating a never-ending use-phase, she's trialled her system together with five individuals, each receiving a garment for a month. Each garment's journey has been documented in the personal diaries of the participants, bridging the project into the topic of emotional bonding.
For her exhibition at the Nieuw Dakota, Timna has worked closely with architectural artist Márk Redele to create a utopian shop of the future, a place where potential customers are introduced to their new garments not as objects, but rather as future living companions. 15 jumpers are presented in three different stages of transformation, while the stories of the participants and their garments are available through an audio play.
